HAIRSPRAY AUDITION INFORMATION:

AUDITION INFORMATION!

Dates of Auditions (pay attention as auditions are on MULTIPLE DATES!)

Sunday December 10th 1 – 4 pm:

OPTIONAL Dance Boot Camp.  Come and get some experience learning the dance part of auditions and get a leg up on the competition.

Thursday December 14th 4:30 – 7:30 pm OR Monday December 18th 4:30 – 7:30pm:

Vocal Auditions.  All students that want to be a part of the musical MUST participate in vocal auditions.  You will select ONE of the days to attend and prepare your song.  Specific song choices for characters are listed below.

Tuesday December 19th 4:30 – 7:30 pm:

Mandatory Dance Auditions for all students wishing to be a part of Hairspray.

Wednesday December 20th 4:30 – 7:30 pm:

Reading Auditions.  Students will be called back to read for leading parts.  List of students needing to attend these auditions will be posted AFTER vocal and dance auditions are complete.

Thursday December 21st 4:15 – 6:30 pm:

Final Call Backs.  Students being called back for a particular role will need to be ready to sing, read, and dance one more time for a part.

Song Selections by Character

If you desire any of the roles below, you must audition using the song we select.  You are expected to prepare 32 measures of the song and plan on singing the vocally “hardest” part of the song (typically the second half-end of the song).  If you are auditioning for an ensemble role, or any other role that isn’t listed – you must prepare 32 measures of a song from a Broadway show to use for your audition.

  • Link Larkin – “It Takes Two”
  • Seaweed J. Stubbs – “Run and Tell That”
  • Little Inez – “Run and Tell That” (Inez parts)
  • Motormouth Maybelle – “I Know Where I’ve Been”
  • Wilbur Turnblad – “Timeless”
  • Dynamites – “Welcome to the 60’s” (Dynamite Parts)
